[He nodded, not fully cognizant that she wasn't there to see
it]
"Yes, that's what we've been told. Thought what kind of fear interests
me. Horror and revulsion, or maybe something more numinous, like say,
reverence and awe? I wish the wording were more clear. Hopefully whatever
this mess was provided the right kind. Oh! Don't be mistaken; I didn't
write that article. Don't think I'd have the stomach, not even in satire.
But given its effects, I'm not keen on speaking against it either. That'd
afford too much dignity for too little result; who believes the accused
claiming their own innocence?
Heh, no, that was a bit of mischief. There are probably better ways to
raise awareness, but you've my thanks nonetheless for taking my side. It's
very comforting.
Agreed! How about one of those touristy-locations? I've been meaning to go,
but resisted the temptation nobly waiting for another to share the sights
with.
That... Hm. [Hinata couldn't really advocate for going around putting different people through different types of fear just for the sake of knowledge. But at the same time, any knowledge about the nature of this world should be welcome...]
Trying to discover the type of fear is... It's a good thing to try and find out, but... It's also not the best idea.
And I... I wouldn't be opposed to seeing some of them? I admit... I haven't exactly been to anything really touristy either. But it would be fun to go with another person.
[It's nearing Christmas, and Abel is making some last minute errands. And he has a gift for Ted he wanted to give.]
"Hi Ted. It's me, Father Abel. I have a batch of Christmas cards I have, but I don't know your exact address to mail it to you. If you would like to receive one today, I can hand it to you in person actually."
"You mean the park in Genessia City? Sure! I'll meet you there."
[Now why hobo? A proper term should be restless, spirited vagabond~. Well, either way, Abel will be waiting for Ted at the entrance gate of the park, with his gift for Ted in hand.]
[Too kind, Abel, too kind. Ted will be there gaily dressed and faced as usual. Gengar's there too, being goofy in his shadow. Never leave home without one. Once he spots the not-at-all tonsured priest, he waved and hollered.]
[Can't we get even more merrier in the spirit of Christmas? First the caroling. Then the gift-giving.
Abel took out of his coat pockets, a white envelope, which contains this card, which is pretty generic and sold in most stores, with a message, "Wishing you peace, joy, and happiness for Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" printed inside with his signature handwriting.
Along with it, it's a wrapped present around a box. Inside the box, should Ted discover later, it's a silver Saint Christopher medallion. A saint who is said to protect travelers and children.]
[Ted never lost his love of stuff, no matter how much he got. His
eyes sparkle as he scans his gifts, loving the three magi picture and
goodwill therein. He doesn't wait to dig into the box, asking who it
signified. He's happy to find out.]
"Saint Christopher! Ah, the one with the fearsome face, ferrying imperiled
travelers like some angelic Charon. Sought to serve the greatest king, only
to find himself unwittingly carrying the One who made the world. Thank you;
where did you get it, if you don't mind looking a gift medallion in the
mouth? Ah, suppose I ought to get you something too. Let's see..."
[Ted fished in his bag for something suitable, producing the book of
hagiography he quoted from a while back.] "Well, so long as we're
about saints, how about this? I recall you saying you never had much time
to do reading on all these wonderful Catholics; ought to give you something
to do should you find yourself bedridden again."
"Hah, it suits me just fine! Though I wonder if it's possible for a man to wear too many necklaces? Ah, two won't hurt, I suppose. And I'm glad you've time to pore through the catcheisms; tell me when you finish the Summa; I'll see if you can make better heads of it than I can. Goodness, isn't Aquinas an intelligent doctor? Pity that makes him that much more complex. Ah well, can't be helped. Ah, but I'm sure we've both others to attend to in gift-giving. Merry Christmas, Abel, and thanks again!"
[Full of cheer, he happily waves and bids farewell, affixing the necklace as he goes.]
[Ted (somehow) receives an invitation from Satsuki to join a New Years party at the Amagi Inn, which includes a free overnight stay, then a visit to the shrine in the late morning. The log itself will likely be after the New Year because mun can be lazy.]
"Haha, what, like a pet? Well, the one I had in mind wasn't much for partying anyway; too trying given the sudden circumstances. I'll be along, alone. Thanks anyway."
[A brightly wrapped package has arrived - late - to Ted's residence.
Enclosed is a book on meanings of names, that's ridiculously thick and a small log, decorated with sprigs of mistletoe and pine needles, a subtle dig at his religious post, shot back with something familiar to Demyx.
He's also included a package of holiday sugar cookies. No, he didn't make them, they are edible. And a note:]
'Merry Christmas Ted. Look forward to a water trick on your birthday whenever it is, it's too cold to do it now. - Demyx.'
[Better late than never! He rings Demyx up as soon as he get it.]
Thank you, Demyx, what a pleasant surprise! I'll have to find a fireplace for this Yule log. I'll do just that, then! It's June 12th, thank you. I hope you've remembered a certain other blonde's birthday.

Well, since we're on the subject of Everglade, how about the Crystal Cave? In the daytime, of course.
